Hello Folks,
Over the past year, I’ve worked with over 100+ people—some through my programs, some via discovery calls, and others through DMs. Amidst all those conversations, I kept hearing things like:
- “I’m not sure I can commit to a month-long scroll less challenge program yet, but what’s one small change I can make today?”
- “My screen time isn’t actually that high, but I still want to balance my screen time for better productivity. Where do I start?”
- “Aditi, once the ‘Scroll Less’ program ends, it will help a lot if we have a support system to continue building more healthy digital habits”
To be honest, I hesitated. I practice what I preach: mindful content consumption. I was apprehensive about starting a WhatsApp community because it meant more online time. It’s the same reason I avoided creating an Instagram account for Take Back Your Time for so long.
But living here in the mountains, where I don’t have networking events, I’ve realised: if I want to reach more people and help them, I have to meet them where they already are and use the mediums they are most familiar with to start their digital fitness journey.
During the 4th cohort of the Scroll Less Challenge, Sufal shared how Fittr’s WhatsApp community had kick-started his physical fitness journey. Just being around people who are conscious of their health kept him inspired. He suggested I do the same for “Digital Fitness.”
Another participant, Nikhil, added, “Aditi, it was only through your content that I realised my poor sleep and procrastination were linked to my digital habits. So many people experience this but have no idea why.”
That was the final push I needed.
Funny enough, I spent days trying to think of the perfect name for this group. When I finally sat down to create it, I realised the perfect name was the one I’ve had all along: Take Back Your Time.
The goal of this community is simple: to get you started on your digital fitness journey. I’ll share one micro-habit every week. These are small, easy changes; your only job is to maintain them for 24 hours, and then the next 24. These micro-habits create a pause between the urge to scroll and the act of scrolling, helping you scroll less.
In this space, we’ll share what’s working and what isn’t. You ask questions, I’ll respond, and we’ll all act as a listening ear for one another. Who knows? Soon, we might even have offline city meetups for reading, potlucks, or painting. The sky is the limit.
